Robb Zimmel

Owner/Winemaker

Robb Zimmel, a U.S. Army Reserves veteran who served as a combat medic in Iraq and Afghanistan, found himself needing a change. He was stationed in the medical tent and was responsible for the 24/7 care of the teams’ patients, which took a toll on him. Deciding on a career change, and after researching, he found a wine science program at Washington State University. Despite initially hesitating, he eventually took the leap and graduated with a degree in viticulture and enology. He now co-owns Zimmel Code Cellars, and he reflects on his decision to switch careers as something he needed to heal and take care of himself all the while still care of others

Michele Metcalf

General Manager

Michele Metcalf, the general manager of Cerebella Winery, has been in the wine industry for over sixteen years. Her experience and passion for wine make her an invaluable asset to the winery. She has worked in various roles in the wine industry, gaining valuable knowledge and experience that she brings to Cerebella Winery.

Before joining Cerebella Winery, Michele worked for Lemma Wine Company, where she gained experience in all aspects of wine sales and marketing. She then worked as a distribution brand manager for Reustle Prayer Rock Vineyards before moving on to work in sales and marketing for Bella World Wines. Her diverse experience in the wine industry has given her the expertise to handle all aspects of running a winery.

Michele’s love of wine is not limited to just one region or type of wine. She enjoys wine from all over the world and is always eager to explore new wine regions and try new wines. This passion for wine is evident in her work at Cerebella Winery.

At Cerebella Winery, Michele manages the wine club, handles marketing, and manages the tasting room. Her role in the winery is crucial in maintaining the high standards of quality and service that the winery is known for. Her excellent customer service skills and extensive knowledge of wine help create a welcoming and educational environment for visitors.

Outside of work, Michele enjoys baking and gardening. She has three grown children and six grandkids, whom she loves spending time with.

Vern Sandy

Hospitality Manager

Vern Sandy is a man of many talents and experiences. He has lived in the Pendleton area for 46 years and has made a name for himself in the community. He is currently the Hospitality Manager for Cerebella Winery, where he uses his excellent customer service skills to provide an exceptional wine-tasting experience for visitors.

Before working in the wine industry, Sandy owned several car lots in Pendleton. He also served as a Field Training Officer for the Oregon Department of Corrections, where he gained valuable leadership and management skills. Despite his success in other fields, Sandy has always had a love for wine and a passion for customer service.

Sandy has been married to his “cute little sweetheart” for 46 years, and they have three daughters, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Family is important to Sandy, and he loves spending time with his loved ones whenever he can.

In addition to his work and family life, Sandy enjoys hobbies such as wine and hunting. His love for wine has led him to the world of winemaking and hospitality, where he can share his knowledge and passion with others.

As the Hospitality Manager for Cerebella Winery, Sandy ensures that visitors have a memorable and enjoyable experience. His ability to connect with people and make them feel comfortable is a valuable asset to the winery.

Overall, Vern Sandy is a skilled and experienced professional with a diverse background. He has a passion for customer service and a love for wine, making him a great fit for the hospitality industry. Alexa Collins brings a warm and welcoming presence to our Tasting Room. With a passion for wine and a friendly smile, she’s always ready to guide our visitors through the unique flavors of our small-batch boutique wines.

In her free time, Alexa enjoys the simple joys of life, sharing her time at home with her husband and two beloved dogs. Whether it’s a quiet evening with a good book and a glass of wine in hand or a relaxing moment with her furry companions, she embodies the essence of family and the love of quality time.

Patrick O’Grady

Tasting Room Associate

Patrick O’Grady is an experienced professional with a strong background in customer service. With over 20 years of experience in the airline industry, he gained valuable knowledge and skills in providing exceptional service to customers. Patrick worked with renowned companies such as WestAir/United Express, USAir, and Delta Air Lines, where he handled various customer service responsibilities.

After his successful career in the airline industry, Patrick returned to his hometown of Pendleton, where he has established deep connections and relationships within the community. Known for his friendly and approachable nature, it’s not surprising that Patrick seems to know everyone around town. His familiarity with the local area and its people has allowed him to excel in various roles and jobs within Pendleton.

During his professional journey, Patrick had the opportunity to showcase his customer service expertise at Saint Michelle Wine Estates. There, he worked in the customer service office at Columbia Crest for two and a half years, contributing to the company’s mission of delivering excellent service to their valued customers.

Patrick’s commitment to providing outstanding customer service, combined with his extensive experience and knowledge of the industry, sets him apart. His dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction and his ability to build strong relationships with clients make him a highly sought-after professional in his field. Whether it’s assisting customers, engaging with the local community, or taking on diverse roles, Patrick O’Grady consistently demonstrates his passion for delivering exceptional service.

Patrick has a daughter that lives in Brazil. Despite living in different countries, Patrick’s deep love for his daughter knows no bounds.
